We take Vancouver Island-bred oysters and smoke them with natural hardwood smoke in-house in Nanaimo. When canned, we take care to ensure they retain their natural nectar, which leads to unrivaled taste and texture. And since we’ve been smoking oysters since 1962, we’re confident that our oysters are unmatched!

A+++, no need to look elsewhere - buy 'em here

Superlative - generous amount of lovely, plump oysters per tin, just the right amount of nectar and smoke. Keep the preparation simple, and they are perfect: my favourite way to have them is on a bed of linguine with braised rapini. And here are a couple of definite other pluses: they are harvested and prepared in Canada, and not in the U.S. ...Nor are they from radioactive waters off the coast of China. Beware what's on the shelves of your local grocer!
I looked around before buying from St. Jean's. They are among a handful of Canadian outfits who ship to your home. Judging from what I am enjoying now, I won't have occasion to look elsewhere.
And the price was right, including shipping cost - they were at my door within a week of placing my order.
I'll keep ordering them as long as they're available.

Our first impression

We tried these smoked oysters the other evening and we weren’t overly impressed. We found them a mushy which could be that they arrived frozen. Also we found small pieces amongst the bigger ones as if they had been chopped up. We prefer them whole.
